About
Most players train the symptom.
Badminton Raw exists because the same problem on court almost never has the same cause underneath it. Two players lose the same rally for completely different reasons — and if you train the wrong one, you can work hard for a year and stay exactly where you are.
The problem with normal advice
Search for why you keep losing and you get answers written for nobody in particular. Fix your grip. Play more. Get fitter. Sometimes that is the right answer. Usually it is a guess dressed up as coaching, and you have no way to tell which one you just got.
The trouble is that badminton hides its causes well. A weak smash can be a technique problem, a footwork problem, a decision problem, or a confidence problem — and all four look identical from the sideline. So players fix what they can see and leave what is actually holding them back completely untouched.
What we do instead
Start with a diagnosis, not a drill. The Player Assessment takes about five minutes and sorts your game across the five RAW pillars to find where your game actually breaks down — not where it hurts most.
You get a Player Outcome: a description of the specific pattern you are stuck in, what tends to cause it, and what changes when it is addressed. It is meant to be uncomfortable in a useful way. Most people recognise themselves immediately.
From there, The Badminton Roadmap turns that diagnosis into a sequence — what to work on, in what order, and what to leave alone until later.
What this is not
- Not a highlight feed. Watching a professional hit a jump smash tells you nothing you can use on Tuesday night.
- Not generic content. Advice that applies to everyone applies to nobody in particular.
- Not a replacement for a coach. If you have a good one, this makes your sessions with them sharper, because you arrive knowing what to ask for.
Where it comes from
Badminton Raw is built in Sydney, Australia, out of the pattern that shows up again and again in real players: the thing they came in to fix was rarely the thing actually costing them matches.
It is early. Coverage will keep growing — deeper player types, more of the Roadmap, and more material for the pillars people get stuck on most.
